Buses in and around Rhodes are basic but acceptable. As you can imagine they are pretty busy during the rush hour with people going about their daily routines. Avoid these times where possible. If you intend to travel on the bus, take some water for the journey. Lindos to Rhodes is about an hour and ten minutes long. For a bus timetable for the whole island click here

Cars can be hired quite cheaply from many places in and around Rhodes. For some idea of prices click here.

Motorcycles are probably best avoided at all costs. Although they can be fun, if your not used to the way the Greeks drive, you may find yourself in a mess quite quickly. If you do decide to go for it, make absolutely sure you wear your helmet. Although you'd never know it looking around the island, they are compulsory by law and you may find yourself voiding your insurance if you don't wear one.

Ferries can be a very pleasant way of getting around Rhodes and seeing neighbouring islands. You can shop around and you may see some difference in prices, but it's probably not worth the effort. Be aware that some of the cruises (Symi in particular) although beautiful when you get there, take an incredibly long time and you get a very minimal stay in the destination.
